The statutory minimum wage in Poland is PLN 4,806 gross per month in 2026, roughly €1,125. If your company sends fitters, engineers or construction staff to a Polish site, the amount itself is rarely the problem: most Western European pay is well above it. What matters is the comparison the Polish labour inspectorate makes, and the proof you can show. This article gives the figures, the average salary for context, the comparison method and the 8-day exception for first assembly.

What is the minimum wage in Poland in 2026?
Per month, employment contract PLN 4,806
Per hour, civil-law contract PLN 31.40
In euro (rate 4.27) ≈ €1,125
Valid All of 2026
The amount is set by regulation of 11 September 2025 (Dz.U. 2025 item 1242) and applies for the whole calendar year, with no mid-year increase. The hourly rate of PLN 31.40 applies to civil-law contracts (umowa zlecenie), not to employees. For your posted employees the monthly amount counts, converted to the hours actually worked: at about 168 working hours a month that is roughly PLN 28.60 per hour, or about €6.70.
No collective wage. Poland has no generally binding collective agreements, not in construction and not in engineering. The statutory minimum and the Labour Code (Kodeks pracy) are the yardstick. That differs from France or Belgium, where collectively agreed pay usually sits above the legal minimum.

Average salary, enterprise sector, July 2026 9,509 2,230 Statistics Poland (GUS), monthly release
The average salary in the enterprise sector was PLN 9,509.02 gross in July 2026, about 6.8% higher than a year earlier, according to Statistics Poland. It is roughly twice the minimum wage. For a posting employer the average is context, not a legal test: the inspectorate compares your pay with the statutory minimum, not with the market average. It does tell you what Polish subcontractors and local staff expect in 2026.
How does the labour inspectorate compare pay?
A posted worker is entitled to at least the Polish level of pay from day one (Art. 4(1) and 4(2)(3) of the Posting of Workers Act). The comparison covers total gross pay including overtime premiums (Art. 4(3) and (4)). A posting allowance counts as pay, except the part that reimburses actual costs such as travel, accommodation and meals (Art. 4(5)).
In practice:
Take the gross monthly pay from the home-country contract, converted to the hours worked in Poland.
Add the overtime premium and any fixed posting allowance.
Deduct expense reimbursements.
If the result for full-time work is PLN 4,806 per month or more, you comply.
Record this comparison in the addendum to the employment contract and keep payslips and proof of payment available in Poland. Without those documents the inspectorate cannot see that you comply, and that counts as a violation.
Working time, rest and overtime
Working day 8 hours
Working week 40 h average
Including overtime Max 48 h
Daily rest 11 hours
Weekly rest 35 hours
Overtime per year 150 hours
The 40 hours are an average over a settlement period, usually 1 to 4 months. Overtime carries a premium of 50% , and 100% for night work, Sundays and public holidays (Labour Code Art. 151¹). The statutory cap of 150 overtime hours a year can be raised in the employment contract or work regulations, but 48 hours a week including overtime remains the limit.
On an assembly project with long days, the daily time record (start, end, hours) is your most important document. You must be able to show it in Poland.
The 8-day exception for first assembly
If you supply a machine or installation and your own qualified staff assemble it as part of the supply contract, an exception from the Polish rules on pay and leave applies for at most 8 days a year (Art. 5(1)). The days count from the first day at the workplace.
Not for construction work. The exception never applies to work on buildings: excavation, earthworks, assembly or dismantling of prefabricated elements, fitting-out or installation, renovation, demolition, maintenance, painting and cleaning (Art. 5(2)). It only concerns pay and leave; the PIP posting declaration, the contact person, the medical certificate and the BHP safety instruction remain mandatory.
Longer than 12 months
After 12 months of posting, all Polish employment conditions apply, except the rules on concluding and terminating the contract and on supplementary pensions. With a motivated notification to the labour inspectorate you extend the limited regime to 18 months. Replacing a worker with a colleague for the same work at the same place counts as one continuous period.
Frequently asked questions
My fitters earn far more than the Polish minimum. Do I still have to do anything?
Yes: prove it. The inspectorate asks for payslips with identifiable components, proof of payment and the time records, available in Poland and, on request, within 5 working days with a Polish translation. The level of pay is rarely the problem; missing documents are.
Does the daily allowance count as pay?
Only the part that does not reimburse actual costs. A fixed allowance for working abroad counts; the reimbursement of hotel, travel and meals does not.
Is the minimum wage in Poland paid per hour or per month?
Employees have a monthly minimum, PLN 4,806 in 2026. The hourly minimum of PLN 31.40 is for civil-law contracts only. For part-time employees the monthly amount is reduced in proportion.
When will the 2027 minimum wage be announced?
Poland sets the minimum wage every year by regulation, usually in September of the preceding year. This article gets a new edition in January 2027.
